Accelerator Program   2023

Flagship programme - LEP (Learning Enrichment Programme) running in 21 schools, impacted 1200 students so far. It's a remedial education programme for students from 3rd to 8th standard. The objective is to generate students' interest in learning so that they do not drop out of mainstream education.

The other programme they have is called 'Savera' which is a community school programme. They form street schools/community schools for children who cannot take formal education - like children of local beggars, construction workers

Shiksharth Trust ( commonly known as Shiksharth ) is a not-for-profit educational organisation, that designs and develops contextually relevant Positive Childhood Experiences for children coming from spaces of conflict and adverse geography. Currently based out of Sukma, Chhattisgarh in Central India, they are serving over 15000 children through pedagogy solutions, school support and community engagement in an integrated approach.

Vidhya Vidhai runs a 3 years intense school transformation programme in Tamil Nadu which caters to the under-resourced schools to build the capacity of Leaders and Teachers. They also run a cluster school transformation which is a systemic level approach that involves multiple stakeholders in the state-run Government school system to participate in School Development with a vision to deliver quality education to every child in the system.

Involve believes that developing student agency and making students more self-reliant, will reduce their dependence on the teachers in the learning process. For this to happen, students will need to take ownership of their learning and develop the necessary skill sets for them to thrive. Towards this vision, Involve takes a two-pronged approach. On one side, our peer-based programs, equip students with academic and future-ready skills. While on the other side, they work with the larger education landscape to build an ecosystem of trust for their students, empowering them to take stronger ownership of their lives.

Sambodh was established in the year 2008 as a public charitable trust, with the objective of promoting economic and social empowerment of marginalised groups in riot-affected urban slums and rural areas of Ahmedabad In 2016, they started providing educational support to students so that they don’t drop out of schools and. The organisation’s founder is Ms Fehmida Malik, who has worked in the development sector for over 25 years. She is the trustee and managing director of the organisation and manages critical aspects of Sambodh. Fehmida is further supported by 6 full-time staff members.
Sambodh is working on an integrated community development programme which covers the following :

Samait Shala, a non-profit from Ahmedabad, Gujarat is working to build instructional capacity in schools by:
- supporting teachers with whole-class approaches required to address the needs of children with high learning differences and Learning Difficulties and
- build school management capacity to sustain those practices at the school level.
They have conducted digital and Inclusive pedagogy learning sessions for over 2000 teachers, 50+ School leaders, and NGO team members in the state of Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and New Delhi.

SEAL Mumbai

Accelerator Program   2022

Social & Evangelical Association for Love (SEAL) is a trust established in 1999. Its work entails rescuing the needy, that have been either abandoned or have run away or are lost or rendered homeless, from the Railway platforms and streets of Mumbai and surrounding areas, rehabilitating them and then reuniting them with their loved ones. It is situated in Panvel, Maharashtra and works with agencies across the country. So far, it has been able to care for over 1000+ rescued people, of which 500+ have been reunited with families while a few have been given a funeral with dignity.

SEAL currently runs programmes under their mission to Rescue, Rehabilitate and Reunite also referred to as ‘Rescunite’. The Ashram provides shelter to those rescued where they are provided with medical aid, food and shelter. Children are provided education at one of the two schools with which SEAL has a tie-up.

Learning Initiatives For India (LIFI) was started in July 2020 with a vision to enable a lifelong learning path for all out of school children (OoSC) in the country. Their mission is to create a collective of Youth Teacher Leaders (YTLs) and network organizations which can support out of school children in their contexts. We mentor and coach the collective to bridge the achievement gap in the children and put them on sustainable learning pathways.

The Xavier’s Resource Centre for the Visually Challenged (XRCVC) is an integral part and department of St. Xavier's College - Autonomous, Mumbai.

The XRCVC was started in 2003 as an effort to ensure an inclusive environment at St. Xavier’s College, one of the most well-known educational institutions in the country, for its students with blindness and low vision. Having created an inclusive set-up for its own students, keeping with the college’s long tradition of creating social impact within the larger community, the XRCVC has today become a national advocacy and support centre for the blind and low-vision across the city and the country.

TITLI Mumbai

Titli is an organisation that enables teachers and caregivers to be trained to transform India’s young learners and help them to, like butterflies, spread their wings and fly. The organisation runs a teacher training program and Anganwadi program, where the teachers or caregivers understand the best practices in early childhood care and education, and then implement that in their classrooms. TitLi provides a preschool curriculum, which helps the ECE educators to conduct developmentally appropriate activities for the holistic development of children.

17000 FT FOUNDATION Gurgaon, Leh, Kargil

17000 ft Foundation works to improve the lives of the people of remote, high altitude mountainous villages of Ladakh, in areas that lie isolated and ignored for centuries due to problems of harsh terrain. By strengthening existing systems and providing opportunities for growth within these hamlets, 17000 ft aims to stem the desperate exodus of these indigenous communities to faraway cities. Their programs focus on improving education in Govt. Schools, creating livelihood opportunities and generating exposure through interactions with the outside world. Today, their work spans the entire 65,000 sq. km. of Ladakh, and aims to impact other similarly remote, inaccessible regions.

Social Frontier Foundation aims to make quality healthcare accessible to mothers and infants through Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) policy under the Right to Food (RTF).

SFF resolves the gap in the implementation of PMMVY in the following ways:
• Mapping uncovered areas: Supporting the government to survey areas being missed out by the outdated census
• Identifying mothers who are not registered or ‘Left out despite being eligible and requiring support.
• Connecting identified women to benefits: Creating awareness and enhancing the quality

Saaras Impact Foundation (Saaras) is a nonprofit organization that aims to make policies work in practice for the marginalized group. Since their inception in 2017, they have been working on the implementation of the Right to Education (RTE) 12(1)(c) under our Project Eklavya.

Tamarind Tree aims to build social justice and equity for the marginalised tribal communities of Dahanu Taluka of Maharashtra, through the realms of knowledge and technology. They run a Pre Primary and Primary school for the local tribal children on its campus in Sogve village, Dahanu. Besides the school, Tamarind Tree has recently started a community library and bookshop as well as a Nutrition Centre.

Pi Jam Foundation is a Non-Profit Organization established in September 2017. They aim to address the pressing concerns in the Indian system with regards to use of technology in Education. They provide access to affordable open source hardware/software that reduces entry barriers for experimentation and promotes global knowledge sharing. Pi Jam Foundation also enhances the quality of computer education by developing a curriculum that fosters essential skills like programming, problem-solving and design thinking through a hands-on STEM approach.

Vardayini Apang Seva Santha (VASS) is a non-profit organisation providing special services support to Children with Disabilities (CwD) who are studying in BMC and Government school under Education for All (EFA) i.e. Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan(SSA).

Apni Shala was officially registered in 2013. The organisation provides life skills education to children in the Mumbai area. Their program focuses on developing the social, emotional and cognitive skills of children using art, drama, games and community projects. They also offer teacher training to spread awareness about the importance of life skills and reach more beneficiaries.

The Mentor Me India program is a one to one community-based mentorship model, similar to Big Brothers Big Sisters in the U.S., but carefully tailored to the Indian context. Karunya has 3 focus areas including education, livelihood, health. They work with select underserved communities like men, women and children form the ragpicking communities in Govandi, tribal communities in Kalyan and HIV Infected and affected individuals. In addition to this one of their recent projects provided housing individuals in select community in Kalyan. Their education programs foucus on providing supplementary education to bridge the quality gap for children going to government schools. Since health and livelihood are othre issues that their beneficiary groups face they look at providing these services through health camps and self-help groups to provide a holistic need-based program.

MDA is located in four centres in and around Mumbai city and has a team of psychologists, special educators and other professionals, offering various services, which include: Diagnostic and remedial facilities for children and young adults. Study Skills. Workshops in schools and colleges. Counselling services for parents as well as students. Aptitude Testing and Career Guidance Counselling. A Parents Support Group to cater to the needs of parents of children with learning disability.A Research Unit to undertake research projects and develop appropriate teaching and testing material suited to the local conditions. A Training Centre where training workshops / talks for small groups of teachers and other professionals are conducted. The Dyslexia Therapist Training Program in collaboration with the Multisensory Language Training Institute of New Mexico. An Advocacy Cell that negotiates with the education authorities for the rights of children with Learning Disability. A Reference Library with books, journals and latest information on learning disability and related areas, which is accessible to all.

Mona Remedial was founded in 1983 as a school for children with special needs. Realising the scarcity of resources and information available to parents of special children and professionals working with special children, the founders believed this was contributing to a lack of acceptance among families and insufficient educational training. This in turn lead to long term mental heal issues, lack of independence, and a lowered quality of life. Mona Remedial's mission is to provide comprehensive and need based educational training and therapies and spread awareness of opportunities. They train special children in academic and life skill based education, guiding students to become as productive and independent as possible. Mona's 3-5 year plan includes launching their new vocational program to run side by side with the academic program, giving students a wholistic education preparing them for life.

Sai Sweekar runs 2 programs- Prayas and Saarthi.Prayas is a program for children with autism, CP, deafblindness etc. Saarthi is for children with learning disabilities and are thus slow learners. Apne Aap Women’s Collective (AAWC) is an anti-trafficking organisation that serves the women and children of Kamathipura, the red light area of Mumbai. They operate three programs: Ummeed, for women in brothel-based prostitution, Udaan for daughters of Ummeed members and other girls living in the red light area and Umang, for toddlers of Ummeed members and other children living in the red light area. By providing our members with the tools and resources to create a better quality of life, we seek to empower women who have been trafficked into brothel-based prostitution and to prevent the cycle of intergenerational prostitution among their daughters.

Mimaansa is currently active in imparting learning in two Municipal schools in the Kissan Nagar and Savarkar Nagar area of Thane.

The main objective of this venture was to bridge the gap in schools and education centers, which are usually not equipped to handle multiple disabilities along with blindness. Muskan Foundation aims to provide a spectrum of customized services ranging from early intervention, education, therapy, counseling and MDVI awareness. The foundation commenced its work with a small group of 4 children, which has swelled to 104 students in three centers and more than 200 children receiving regular therapy.

Since 1972, Mumbai Mobile Creches has been one of the few non-profits specifically supporting the health, education and safety of children living on construction sites. MMC has reached over 100,000 children across 270 construction sites in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane.

Nareshwadi Learning Centre (NLC) is located in Dahanu (north of Mumbai) and offers a great learning environment to children from unpriviledged backgrounds, in particular those belonging to the local Warli tribal community. NLC comprises a Primary and Secondary school, a Vocational Education and Training Centre, a General Hostel for girls and boys, a Children’s Home, a Health Centre and a School Farm and Dairy.

NLC is dedicated to nourish the physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual development of each child by providing an innovative education, caring home environment and fostering community involvement.

Muktangan was envisioned as an alternative model that aimed to bridge these prevalent gaps and disconnects in education by providing an inclusive, student-friendly, community based model of education within the mainstream system. Supported through the Paragon Charitable Trust in partnership with the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM), the first Muktangan preschool was started in 2003 on the premises of a Municipal School in Worli, Mumbai.
